CanLit Queries

If you felt like answering some or all of these quicky queries about CanLit, it would really be helpful, and interesting, to me!

1. What was the last Canadian book you recall reading?
2. Where did you find out about it, and where do you find out about Canadian books to read in general, if in fact you do?
3. Where did you get the book, and where do get Canadian books in general, if in fact you do?
4. Who is your favourite Canadian author? Bonus points--Why?

Thanks!

RR

1. I can't remember which was the last, but over the summer i read A Complicated Kindness, Lullabies for Little Criminals, and What the Body Remembers.
2. I found out about all three on the CBC; the first two on Canada Reads (oh, John K. Samson, how i love thee), and the last was on Between the Covers about five years ago.
3. Chapters/Indigo
4. I don't think i have a Cdn favourite right now

Why do you ask?

1. The Birth House by Amy McKay?
2. I was looking online for some CanLit to read (being a little homesick) and saw it had won an award.
3. Got it from the library. The NYPL has a decent CanLit selection!
4. Still love Rohinton Mistry. And Rebecca Rosenblum!

1. The Secret Mitvah of Lucio Burke by Stephen Hayward

2. Stumbled upon his collection of short stories and liked them.

Usually just find Canadian books browsing Chapters, though I try to keep on the local and national scene.

3. Chapters

4. Mordecai Richler. I loved (LOVED) Barney's Version. The way he can be totally irreverent and still really articulate / moving pleases me.
