Forsythia

It seems a bit small and parsimonious to have a favourite flower when there are so many flowers each lovely in their different ways. A bit pointless, like having a "best" friend after grade 7. Aside from the perennial roses (isn't it funny when you mean to use a word metaphorically and accidentally find yourself back at the literal meaning?) my favourite flower changes seasonally, and in mid-spring (aka, now, in southern Ontario) it is forsythia. Seeing a bush of it from the bus window never fails to cheer me up, and even though the blossom have no smell, I like to sniff them anyway.

I once wrote a story with a heavy forsythia presence, and it was published aseasonally, last Septemeber, on Joyland. The nice thing about online stories is they are still available if the story comes back into season.

And the nice thing about the upcoming Joy-a-thon is that a) that it'll be so fun, b) that I'll get to read the abovementioned story, and c) that it gives me a chance to mention it in season.

You drop your tray and go beserk

PS--Yes, yes, there is a nice rumour going around about *Once*...but lemme get some official documentation before I post anything. You wouldn't happen to have a link, would you?
